Golden Cheetah – Development Builds

Hi. I just want to point out a few things in the latest Windows build.

First, you will notice a Command window appear with the following text:

Cannot open qollector_interpret program, available from http://opensource.quarq.us/qollector_interpret.

This is just a warning message for some code. It has always been there, you have never seen it. Will look to get it removed.

As these are development builds, sometimes the code will display messages as certain actions are run. This command window just allows us to see some of those messages. Please don’t raise a bug request for every message that appears. If it is related to an issue, then please go ahead and copy in the text. Otherwise, just minimize it in the background.

Secondly and I should have pointed this out, the Windows version now supports download from SRM devices. Rainer (who writes the SRMIO code) worked with me to get this to be able to work on Windows so have at it. Any feedback would always be appreciated and thanks to Rainer for taking the time to get this working on Windows.

To download you can hit Control-D or select the Activity menu then the Download from device… item.

After a little time off from the Version 2.1 rollout, here are the latest development builds of version 3.0.

For Windows users, I am now using a different build system so please report back any issues that you have. You will see a Command window open when you run Golden Cheetah. This is so you can see any debug or messages that may or may not be useful if there is a problem with the software.

Please check out the WIKI page on Version 3.x Features especially the Add Chart Button as to where charts are in the current build. The page is being actively worked on but as these are development versions some information may be missing or out of date.

For Windows and Mac, version 3.0 installs into different location and the data files are in separate directories compared to version 2.x so that they don’t conflict. You need to copy/paste from your version 2 to your version 3 if you want to use your old files.

Version 2.1.0 has been officially released.

The SRM download back end for Linux and Mac was changed. We have rebuilt GC to use the newer version. Windows is the same as the last build as it does not have SRM download capabilites.

All current bugs are now fixed. This is the last release candidate.

Due to hardware issues, the Linux builds are now being done with a different build platform from the last release. Not ideal but I have tested on a few systems with no apparent issues. Can you please test PowerTap downloads as I do not have the equipment to test?

Under Linux/Mac, can SRM users please test downloads as a library SRM downloading uses was updated to fix some issues.

Unless something major crops up, this is most likely the last release candidate build for version 2.1. We were able to sneak in the Air Density Calculator and some new translations and fix a few other small things.

Apologises to Windows users who downloaded and installed the last build. It saved your file files into the version 2.x data area. You will need to re-import any files that you may have downloaded over the last week if you continued using last weeks builds.

These builds have a new Sidebar on the right hand side with a mini calendar. For the first use of this sidebar you may need to hunt around and expand the sidebar to actually see the calendar.

Over a year in the making we bring to you Version 2.1 Release Candidate 1. This will most likely be a very short release candidate as most of the features are well bedded in all current bugs that we know of in the release have been closed.
